Product Description

High quality leather sport jacket, without some of the bling of the higher end GMX series, but with virtually all the protection.  High quality wind-stopping liner, with very good ventilation/perforation in the main leather shell.  Great choice for any street rider looking for a quality perf leather jacket that handles day to day duty very well, and can be mated to track pants for some canyon carving (or even the occassional trackday).  Fit runs slightly long-armed and slim compared to some other options, but not drastically so, (i.e. average build is fine but short limbed and stocky isn't the best natural fit for this one).

  • 1.2-1.3mm thickness, premium cowhide leather
  • Removable wind-stopping inner jacket
  • GP-style, CE approved shoulder and elbow armor is adjustable for placement
  • CE Level 1 certified, Knox-supplied back protector included (can be upgraded to optional Level 2 if desired)
  • Quick dry mesh lining for comfort
  • Flex action panel on shoulder and elbow for maneuverability
  • Aero hump on back (perforated top of aero hump to intake air)
  • Schoeller dynamic material on underarms
  • Elastic knit material on waist and back neck area for secure fit and comfort
  • Waist connection zipper allows connection to RS TAICHI leather pants. (RSY817/822/824)

  1. RS Taichi 826, forget other brands this is where is at! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Jun 2013

First product I've ever bought from this company and first true racing jacket. Read a bunch of reviews before buying, I'm not rich, so I had to make sure.
Very good product, stitching, quality of materials, fit and looks very good. Color selection is a plus also.

Only thing that is a bit on the downside is that the sleeves fit a 1/2"-3/4" shorter but maybe I'm a freak with long arms. Wore it when it was hot and barely noticed that the jacket is new... comfortable!

    I have a athletic build, 70", 170lbs, 39" chest.

Keep up the good work, don't sacrifice quality for affordability, I prefer to pay more money and get an above average product.

  2. Excellent quality - Slim fit - looks great! 5 Star Review

Everything about the RS Taichi 826 Vented is well considered. No extra hanging threads or carelessly sewn edges. The finish is on par with any of the high end European jackets.

This is my first Taichi jacket and I'm pleased with the construction and feel. It's really comfortable and the leather is thick enough so you feel well protected. (No spills yet, so this is conjecture.) But, you forget it when you're on the bike.

My only complaint (really minor) is the neck opening is a little wide. But I have a thin neck, so...

I wear a 50 in Euro sizes, and in this jacket a 50. The jacket is still form-fitting when you remove the thin wind liner.

The 826's natural shape fits a sportbike riding position perfectly with no binding and great airflow. I got the 817 Vented Leather Pants and they zip together really easily. A solid all-the-way-around zipper comes with either the pants or jacket (can't remember which?)

The style is great - very clean with nice touches - without looking like every one else. You're not coming off the track, and you're not a power ranger, it just looks like you seriously ride.

    Highly recommended.

  3. Sleek and well designed--but meant for skinny folks top to bottom 5 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Jul 2011

The jacket is very well made--it's sleek, with supple leather, and is designed with a lot of intuitive features to make the ride more comfortable. Fit and Finish is superb.

Sizing was a bit off for me. While I normally wear a size 50 euro, I went with a 52 on this one--otherwise the upper chest and shoulders wouldn't have allowed blood flow to reach the rest of my body! The 50 while form fitting on the waistline, was just far too tight on the chest and my shoulders and barely fit to the point that it was cutting into my brachial arteries at the armpit. The sleeves were a bit long, falling about halfway down the metacarpel bones in the dorsal side of the hand. The sleeve length wasn't really affected going to the 52 either.

It's really designed for someone with a slight build top to bottom. Athletic built guys will have to size themselves using the upper body measurements...and sacrifice the waist form fit a little. For me, the 52 fit better without the liner, as I don't plan on wearing this as anything more than a summer wear jacket that wasn't an issue.

So overall the listed euro size is still true to the chart--but body type will have to be considered. Going one size up from your normal wear may be a good idea.

Riding...you almost forget you're wearing the jacket from a comfort standpoint. It allows good airflow on the frontal area when riding, so-so on the arms. When stopped--you'll remember it's a leather jacket. But better to sweat than bleed I always say!

In summation--this jacket is highly recommended!!!

  4. Top Notch Jacket - Minus the race track look 5 Star Review

Posted by on 9th Feb 2011

Ordered a the 826 Jacket in Black

This is a high end track ready jacket like the GMX Motion Jacket, minus the hard shoulder outer protection.

Very nice leather quality, stitching and the detail work is second to none. I've owned a few RS Taichi jackets, the vegas, GMX Motion and 826 is my favourite.

Fit is slim, if you have a serious gut, RS Taichi may not fit you that well. That being said, jacket has many stretchy panels to accommodate various body shapes.

Vents very well, with the wind liner, i've used it as a 3 season jacket. The wind liner is just that, it has no thermal layer, just a simple shell.

Details in the stitching, logo work, or lack of logo work, back hump and multiple technical fabrics show alot of thought went into the jacket.

Leather is thick, it's not the same leather used in the Japanese sourced and produced race suits. But still supple and strong. Haven't crash tested the jacket (knock on wood) but i'm sure it'll stand up very well.

Highly recommend, looks super clean on and off the bike.
